I should make it clear, I’m not saying “if you’re sick, start pulling your hair out.” What I am saying is that hair loss is not normal, and could be pointing to an underlying health condition. But still, the question is: how do I stop my hair from falling out and how do I regrow new hair? I am writing to tell you that I have slowed my hair-loss down to a point where I am growing more hair than losing. I now look forward to a life with hair on my head. I am 25 years old and first started noticing excessive amounts of hair falling from my head at age 20. Being somewhat of a self-conscious person, I was concerned. I did not want to go bald. With this fear of balding, my search began. The hair-loss industry is massive. With huge amounts of misleading information, manipulation, and expensive products; it is a lot to take on. There are pills, creams, sprays, shampoos, supplements, lasers, combs, scalp stimulators, et cetera. Each one claiming to work on 90% of consumers and each with a 30, 60, or 90 day money-back guarantee. Well I tried just about all of them, and each one did seem to work, but only temporarily. By the time I was convinced that the product wasn’t going to stop my hair-loss, my money-back guarantee was up. So the search went on. I became interested in alternative health. I was changing my lifestyle to a more health-productive way of living. I started trying natural hair-loss products such as herbal shampoos and supplements, and although I knew it was a better approach to living, my hair continued to fall out. I would scan the internet for hours trying to figure out how to save my hair. Well about 4 years into my search I found an E-book about hair loss that opened my eyes. The information showed me the truth about why we lose our hair. Like I said before: hair-loss can be a sign of disease, and may be a symptom of that disease. Therefore, it can be assumed that perhaps your father’s hair-loss was a symptom of a disease, or that your mother’s father was bald because he was ill. If this is the case, then perhaps they were genetically predisposed to having full heads of thick hair, but due to lack of health, they lost it. Genetics is a term that describes characteristics acquired from family members. You are more than likely the same color skin as your parents, this is an obvious genetic trait. We have been told that genes will affect our health and have also been told that balding is genetic. Therefore, many of us assume that there is nothing we can do about it. But when it comes to hair-loss, genetics is not as obvious a culprit as it is with skin color. Similar to how your skin will eventually turn yellow due to lack of vitamin C (jaundice), hair-loss can be a symptom of such things as toxicity, poisoning, infection, cancer, or other diseased states. But just like your skin returning to its’ normal color with the replenishment of vitamin C, hair growth can return when the body returns to health. So don’t let someone try to convince you that due to the term genetics, there is nothing you can do. Why did the products I was using work at first? Placebo. The mind has an extremely powerful effect on the body. This has been documented extensively in medical and scientific literature. Each time I would receive a product, I would think “this is the one”, and my excitement would create the placebo effect; therefore my hair would stop falling out. But since I had not corrected my inner diseased state, eventually my hair-loss returned. So I began to follow the instructions in the book. Since then, my health has been steadily improving. I look in the mirror and not only enjoy my hair but I see a more comfortable, relaxed expression on my face. I think back to the lack of energy and mental fog and I thank God my hair was falling out. I sometimes wonder: had I found a pill that kept my hair from falling out, would I have ever discovered why I felt ill? I hope this article has made you think.
God Bless.
